Answer Key + Explained Answers
Q1 – B) Forsake. “Abandon” means to give up completely. “Forsake” is the closest synonym. “Keep / Hold / Cherish” are opposites.
Q2 – B) Modern. “Ancient” means very old. Its antonym is “Modern” (current / new). “Old / Antique / Primitive” are near-synonyms.
Q3 – B) Occurrence. The correct spelling is O-C-C-U-R-R-E-N-C-E: double C, double R, single E-N-C-E at the end.
Q4 – B) To be defeated. “To bite the dust” means to suffer defeat or failure, not literally to eat dirt.
Q5 – C) Abyssinia (Habsha). The first Hijrat was to Abyssinia, where the Christian king (Negus) gave Muslims refuge. The Hijrat to Madinah came later.
Q6 – A) Umm-ul-Kitab. Surah Al-Fatiha is called Umm-ul-Kitab (Mother of the Book) because it summarises the Quran’s core message.
Q7 – B) 2 AH. The Battle of Badr took place in Ramadan 2 AH (624 CE).
Q8 – B) Hazrat Sumayyah (RA). Hazrat Sumayyah bint Khayyat (RA), mother of Ammar (RA), is regarded as the first martyr of Islam.
Q9 – B) Allama Iqbal. Allama Muhammad Iqbal is known as Shair-e-Mashriq (Poet of the East).
Q10 – B) Iqbal. “Khudi” (Self / Selfhood) is the central concept in Iqbal’s philosophy — self-realisation, dignity, and action.
Q11 – B) Maulvi Abdul Haq. Maulvi Abdul Haq is called Baba-e-Urdu. Wali Muhammad Wali is regarded as the first poet of Urdu — do not confuse the two.
Q12 – B) A collection of poems. A Diwan is a collected volume of a poet’s poems (often ghazals).
Q13 – B) 10 days. Total work = 5 × 12 = 60 worker-days. 60 ÷ 6 = 10 days.
Q14 – C) 42. Pattern is n(n+1): 1×2=2, 2×3=6, 3×4=12, 4×5=20, 5×6=30, 6×7=42.
Q15 – C) Rs 155. 3 pens = 3 × 25 = 75. 2 notebooks = 2 × 40 = 80. Total = 75 + 80 = 155.
Q16 – B) A is taller than C. Height is transitive: if A > B and B > C, then A > C.
Q17 – C) Canberra. Canberra is the capital of Australia. Sydney is the largest city, not the capital.
Q18 – D) Pacific. The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on Earth.
Q19 – C) Yen. Japan’s currency is the Yen. Won = South Korea, Yuan = China, Ringgit = Malaysia.
Q20 – B) Helium. Helium is light and non-flammable, so it is used to fill balloons. Hydrogen is also light but flammable.
