High-Scoring Strategy

  1. Derivation practice — Master derivations of major equations; examiners reward step-by-step working.
  2. Numerical fluency — Solve 5 numerical problems daily across topics.
  3. Diagrams matter — Clean ray diagrams, energy-band diagrams, circuit diagrams add marks.
  4. Cite physicists — Newton, Maxwell, Einstein, Planck, Bohr, Schrödinger, Dirac.
  5. Solve 8-10 past papers under timing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a physics degree?

Strongly recommended. Physics is among the most technical CSS optionals; engineering or BSc physics backgrounds adapt best.

Is Physics scoring?

Yes — well-prepared candidates routinely score 140+ out of 200. Accurate derivations and clean numerical solutions earn full marks.

Will calculators be allowed?

Non-programmable calculators are typically permitted. Confirm with the current FPSC admit-card instructions.
