Answer Key + Explained Answers
Q1 – B) Courageous. “Brave” means courageous / fearless. “Cowardly / Fearful / Weak” are opposites.
Q2 – C) Stingy. “Generous” means giving freely. Its antonym is “Stingy” (unwilling to give). “Kind / Giving / Helpful” are near-synonyms.
Q3 – B) Environment. Correct spelling: E-N-V-I-R-O-N-M-E-N-T.
Q4 – B) To reveal a secret. “To spill the beans” means to disclose secret information, not literally to drop food.
Q5 – B) Al-Alaq. The first five verses of Surah Al-Alaq (“Iqra…”) were the first revelation. Al-Fatiha is the first Surah in the Quran’s order, not the first revealed.
Q6 – C) 13 years. The Prophet (PBUH) preached in Makkah for 13 years (610–622 CE) before the Hijrat to Madinah, then 10 years in Madinah — 23 years total.
Q7 – A) 2.5%. Zakat on cash, bank savings, gold, and silver is 2.5% (1/40) of the value held for a lunar year above the nisab.
Q8 – B) Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA). The Quran was first compiled into a single book (Mushaf) under Caliph Abu Bakr (RA), on the advice of Umar (RA) after the Battle of Yamama. Under Uthman (RA), it was standardised and copies were sent to provinces — do not confuse compilation with standardisation.
Q9 – A) Saadat Hasan Manto. “Toba Tek Singh” is Manto’s famous partition short story.
Q10 – B) Iqbal. “Bang-e-Dra” (Call of the Marching Bell) is Allama Iqbal’s first Urdu poetry collection.
Q11 – B) Nastaliq (Perso-Arabic). Urdu is written in Nastaliq, a form of the Perso-Arabic script. Devanagari is used for Hindi; Roman for English/Urdu in Roman script; Cyrillic for Russian and others.
Q12 – B) 5. A ghazal usually has at least 5 couplets (ashaar), commonly 5–15. Fewer than 5 is not a full ghazal.
Q13 – C) 150 km. Distance = speed × time = 60 × 2.5 = 150 km.
Q14 – C) 243. Each term multiplies by 3: 3 × 3 = 9, 9 × 3 = 27, 27 × 3 = 81, 81 × 3 = 243.
Q15 – C) Rs 175. One pen = 50 ÷ 2 = Rs 25. Seven pens = 7 × 25 = Rs 175.
Q16 – C) Thursday. 10 days = 1 week (7 days) + 3 days. Monday + 3 days = Thursday. (Use remainder: 10 mod 7 = 3.)
Q17 – C) Tokyo. Tokyo is the capital of Japan. Seoul = South Korea, Beijing = China, Bangkok = Thailand.
Q18 – B) Japan. Japan is called the Land of the Rising Sun because it lies to the east (sun rises in the east).
Q19 – B) Sahara. The Sahara is the largest hot desert. (The Antarctic desert is larger overall, but it is a cold desert — the question asks for hot desert.)
Q20 – D) Vitamin A. Vitamin A deficiency causes night blindness (difficulty seeing in dim light). Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy; Vitamin D deficiency causes rickets/osteomalacia.
