Answer Key + Explained Answers

Q1 – B) Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet. Saturn is second-largest, Neptune is fourth-largest, Earth is fifth-largest.

Q2 – C) Oxygen. Plants release oxygen during photosynthesis (and absorb CO2). CO2 is absorbed, nitrogen is inert, hydrogen is trace.

Q3 – B) Tooth enamel. Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the human body. Bone is hard, nail is keratin, hair is keratin.

Q4 – C) Heart. Heart pumps blood. Liver detoxifies, kidney filters blood, lung breathes.

Q5 – B) C. Carbon is C. Ca is calcium, Co is cobalt, Cr is chromium.

Q6 – B) African elephant. African elephant is the largest land animal (up to 6,000 kg). Blue whale is largest animal overall (in the sea), giraffe is tallest, hippopotamus is smaller.

Q7 – B) Breathing. Lungs are for breathing (gas exchange). Heart pumps blood, stomach digests food, kidney filters blood.

Q8 – C) Dog. Dog is called “man’s best friend” (loyalty). Cat is a pet, horse is a pet, parrot is a pet.

Q9 – B) Absorb water. Roots absorb water (and minerals) from the soil. Leaves make food, stem supports the plant, fruits produce seeds.

Q10 – C) Ganymede. Ganymede (Jupiter’s moon) is the largest moon. Moon is Earth’s moon, Titan is Saturn’s moon (second-largest), Europa is Jupiter’s moon (smallest of the Galilean moons).

Q11 – B) Rs 10. One pencil = 50 divided by 5 = Rs 10.

Q12 – C) 32. Each term doubles: 2 × 2 = 4, 4 × 2 = 8, 8 × 2 = 16, 16 × 2 = 32. (24, 28, 36 are not ×2.)

Q13 – C) 50. 25% of 200 = 0.25 × 200 = 50.

Q14 – D) 8. y – 3 = 5, so y = 5 + 3 = 8.

Q15 – C) 225. 15 squared = 15 × 15 = 225. (200, 215, 250 are not squares of 15.)

Q16 – C) 27. 3 cubed = 3 × 3 × 3 = 27. (9 = 3 squared, 18 and 36 are not cubes of 3.)

Q17 – B) 5. A pentagon has 5 sides (penta = five). Quadrilateral has 4, hexagon has 6, heptagon has 7.

Q18 – C) 60. 1 hour = 60 minutes.

Q19 – C) 200. 120 + 80 = 200.

Q20 – B) 500. 700 – 200 = 500.

Weak-Section Review
