Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – D) Arctic Ocean. Arctic Ocean is the smallest ocean. Pacific is largest, Atlantic is second-largest, Indian is third-largest.
Q2 – C) Oxygen. We need oxygen to breathe. CO2 is exhaled, nitrogen is inert, hydrogen is trace.
Q3 – C) Sloth. Sloth is the slowest animal (about 0.24 km/h). Turtle is slow, snail is slow, tortoise is slow — but sloth is slowest.
Q4 – C) Ear. Ear helps us to hear. Eye sees, nose smells, tongue tastes.
Q5 – B) Fe. Iron is Fe (from Latin “ferrum” = iron). Ir is iridium, In is indium, Io is not a symbol.
Q6 – B) Venus. Venus is closest to Earth (about 41 million km at closest). Mars is second-closest, Mercury is third, Jupiter is far.
Q7 – C) Helium. Helium is used in balloons (light, inert). Oxygen is for breathing, CO2 is exhaled, nitrogen is inert.
Q8 – C) Hen. Hen lays eggs. Cow gives milk, dog is a pet, cat is a pet.
Q9 – B) Make food. Leaves make food (photosynthesis). Roots absorb water, stem supports the plant, fruits produce seeds.
Q10 – C) Egg cell. Egg cell (ovum) is the largest cell. Sperm cell is smallest, nerve cell is long, red blood cell is small.
Q11 – B) Rs 10. One pen = 60 divided by 6 = Rs 10.
Q12 – C) 15. Each term adds 3: 3 + 3 = 6, 6 + 3 = 9, 9 + 3 = 12, 12 + 3 = 15. (13, 14, 16 are not +3.)
Q13 – C) 75. 75% of 100 = 0.75 × 100 = 75.
Q14 – C) 10. b + 5 = 15, so b = 15 – 5 = 10.
Q15 – C) 400. 20 squared = 20 × 20 = 400. (300, 350, 450 are not squares of 20.)
Q16 – C) 64. 4 cubed = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64. (16 = 4 squared, 32 and 128 are not cubes of 4.)
Q17 – C) 7. A heptagon has 7 sides (hepta = seven). Pentagon has 5, hexagon has 6, octagon has 8.
Q18 – C) 60. 1 minute = 60 seconds.
Q19 – C) 400. 250 + 150 = 400.
Q20 – B) 600. 1000 – 400 = 600.
Weak-Section Review:
Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Arctic Ocean (smallest), oxygen (breathe), sloth (slowest), ear (hear), Fe (iron), Venus (closest to Earth), helium (balloons), hen (lays eggs), leaves (make food), egg cell (largest cell). General Ability: practise unitary method, +3 series, percentages, algebra, squares / cubes, shapes (heptagon 7), time (1 minute = 60 seconds), addition / subtraction. Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
