Answer Key + Explained Answers
Q1 – B) Mercury. Mercury is the smallest planet. Venus is second, Mars is fourth, Pluto is a dwarf planet.
Q2 – B) O. O is the chemical symbol for oxygen. Ox is not a symbol, O2 is oxygen gas, Oxg is not a symbol.
Q3 – C) Newton. Newton is the SI unit of force. Joule is energy, watt is power, pascal is pressure.
Q4 – C) Heart. The heart pumps blood. Liver filters toxins, lung exchanges gases, kidney filters blood.
Q5 – C) 100°C. The boiling point of water is 100°C. 90, 95, 105 are wrong.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Plants use carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. Oxygen is released, nitrogen is inert, hydrogen is trace.
Q7 – B) Femur. Femur (thigh bone) is the largest bone. Stapes is smallest, humerus is arm, tibia is leg.
Q8 – B) Lion. Lion is known as the "King of the Jungle". Tiger is a big cat, elephant is large, bear is strong.
Q9 – B) H2O. H2O is the chemical formula for water (2 hydrogen, 1 oxygen). CO2 is carbon dioxide, NaCl is salt, O2 is oxygen.
Q10 – D) Vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced by sunlight. Vitamin A is for eyesight, vitamin B is for energy, vitamin C is for immunity.
Q11 – C) 60. 30% of 200 = 0.30 × 200 = 60.
Q12 – C) 32. Each term doubles: 2 × 2 = 4, 4 × 2 = 8, 8 × 2 = 16, 16 × 2 = 32. (24, 28, 36 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 25. c – 7 = 18, so c = 18 + 7 = 25.
Q14 – B) 81. Square of 9 = 9 × 9 = 81. (72 is wrong, 90 is wrong, 99 is wrong.)
Q15 – B) 150. 25 × 6 = 150. (140 is wrong, 160 is wrong, 170 is wrong.)
Q16 – B) Rome. Rome is the capital of Italy. Madrid is Spain, Paris is France, Berlin is Germany.
Q17 – B) Asia. Asia is the largest continent. Africa is second, Europe is sixth, North America is third.
Q18 – B) AB positive. AB positive is the universal recipient. O negative is universal donor, A positive is not universal, B negative is not universal.
Q19 – B) Lithium. Lithium is the lightest metal. Aluminium is light, magnesium is light, sodium is light — but lithium is lightest.
Q20 – B) 30. Area of triangle = ½ × base × height = ½ × 10 × 6 = 30. (25 is wrong, 35 is wrong, 40 is wrong.)
Weak-Section Review
Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Mercury (smallest planet), O (oxygen), Newton (force), heart (pumps blood), 100°C (boiling point), carbon dioxide (photosynthesis), femur (largest bone), lion (King of Jungle), H2O (water), vitamin D (sunlight). Mathematics: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, squares, multiplication. General Ability / Everyday Science: revise Rome (Italy), Asia (largest continent), AB positive (universal recipient), lithium (lightest metal), triangle area (½ × base × height). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
