GSA Practice Set 23 – General Science & Ability (20 Original MCQs Explained)
This is GSA Practice Set 23 — 20 original MCQs in the GSA pattern: General Science (Q1–Q10), Mathematics (Q11–Q15), and General Ability / Everyday Science (Q16–Q20). Attempt all 20 in 25 minutes without looking at the answers, then check the explained answers and review your weak section. These are original practice questions, not copied from FPSC papers or competitor question banks, and this site is not affiliated with FPSC. Scoring: 18–20 = strong. 15–17 = good. 12–14 = fair, revise the sections you missed. Below 12 = study the weak-section review, then re-attempt in 2 days.

Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – B) Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet. Saturn is second, Neptune is fourth, Earth is fifth.
Q2 – B) Au. Au is the chemical symbol for gold (from aurum). Gd is gadolinium, Ag is silver, Go is not a symbol.
Q3 – C) Joule. Joule is the SI unit of energy. Newton is force, watt is power, pascal is pressure.
Q4 – D) Kidney. The kidney filters blood. Liver filters toxins, lung exchanges gases, heart pumps blood.
Q5 – C) 300,000 km/s. The speed of light is about 300,000 km/s. 150,000, 200,000, 400,000 are wrong.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Humans exhale carbon dioxide. Oxygen is inhaled, nitrogen is inert, hydrogen is trace.
Q7 – B) Stapes. Stapes (in the ear) is the smallest bone. Femur is largest, humerus is arm, tibia is leg.
Q8 – B) Dog. Dog is known as man’s best friend. Cat is pet, horse is animal, parrot is bird.
Q9 – B) NaCl. NaCl is the chemical formula for salt (sodium chloride). KCl is potassium chloride, CaCl2 is calcium chloride, MgCl2 is magnesium chloride.
Q10 – A) Vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for eyesight. Vitamin B is for energy, vitamin C is for immunity, vitamin D is for bones.
Q11 – C) 100. 20% of 500 = 0.20 × 500 = 100.
Q12 – C) 16. Each term doubles: 1 × 2 = 2, 2 × 2 = 4, 4 × 2 = 8, 8 × 2 = 16. (12, 14, 18 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 16. a + 9 = 25, so a = 25 – 9 = 16.
Q14 – C) 27. Cube of 3 = 3 × 3 × 3 = 27. (9 = 3², 18 is wrong, 36 is wrong.)
Q15 – C) 180. 15 × 12 = 180. (160 is wrong, 170 is wrong, 190 is wrong.)
Q16 – C) Tokyo. Tokyo is the capital of Japan. Seoul is South Korea, Beijing is China, Bangkok is Thailand.
Q17 – B) Great Wall of China. Great Wall of China is the longest wall (about 21,196 km). Berlin Wall was short, Hadrian’s Wall is in England, Western Wall is in Jerusalem.
Q18 – B) O negative. O negative is the universal donor. AB positive is universal recipient, A positive is not universal, B negative is not universal.
Q19 – C) Diamond. Diamond is the hardest natural substance. Gold is soft, iron is hard, quartz is hard — but diamond is hardest.
Q20 – B) 14. Diameter = 2 × radius = 2 × 7 = 14. (7 is radius, 21 is wrong, 28 is wrong.)
Weak-Section Review:
Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Jupiter (largest planet), Au (gold), Joule (energy), kidney (filters blood), 300,000 km/s (light), carbon dioxide (exhaled), stapes (smallest bone), dog (best friend), NaCl (salt), vitamin A (eyesight). Mathematics: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, cubes, multiplication. General Ability / Everyday Science: revise Tokyo (Japan), Great Wall (longest wall), O negative (universal donor), diamond (hardest substance), diameter (2 × radius). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
