Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – B) Venus. Venus is known as the Morning Star (and Evening Star). Mars is Red Planet, Jupiter is largest, Saturn is ringed.
Q2 – B) Fe. Fe is the symbol for iron. Ir is iridium, In is indium, I is iodine.
Q3 – C) Ampere. Ampere is the unit of electric current. Volt is voltage, Ohm is resistance, Watt is power.
Q4 – B) Kidney. Kidney filters blood. Liver detoxifies, heart pumps, lungs exchange gases.
Q5 – A) 0°C. Water freezes at 0°C. 10°C is cool, 100°C is boiling, 50°C is hot.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Plants absorb carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. Oxygen is released, nitrogen is fixed by bacteria, hydrogen is in water.
Q7 – B) Blue whale. Blue whale is the largest mammal. African elephant is largest land mammal, giraffe is tallest, hippo is large.
Q8 – B) Cheetah. Cheetah is the fastest land animal. Lion is fast, horse is fast, greyhound is fast — but cheetah is fastest.
Q9 – C) H2SO4. H2SO4 is sulphuric acid. HCl is hydrochloric, HNO3 is nitric, NaOH is sodium hydroxide.
Q10 – C) Vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced in skin by sunlight. Vitamin A is in carrots, Vitamin C is in citrus, Vitamin K is in greens.
Q11 – C) 120. 50% of 240 = 0.50 × 240 = 120.
Q12 – C) 48. Pattern: ×2: 3 × 2 = 6, 6 × 2 = 12, 12 × 2 = 24, 24 × 2 = 48. (36, 42, 54 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 18. g + 12 = 30, so g = 30 – 12 = 18.
Q14 – C) 125. Cube of 5 = 5³ = 5 × 5 × 5 = 125. (100, 115, 135 are wrong.)
Q15 – B) 154. 22 × 7 = 154. (144, 164, 174 are wrong.)
Q16 – B) Paris. Paris is the capital of France. London is UK, Berlin is Germany, Rome is Italy.
Q17 – D) Pacific. Pacific is the largest ocean. Atlantic is second, Indian is third, Arctic is smallest.
Q18 – B) 98.6°F. Normal body temperature is 98.6°F (37°C). 96.6°F is low, 100.6°F is fever, 102.6°F is high fever.
Q19 – B) Mercury. Mercury is liquid at room temperature. Iron is solid, copper is solid, aluminium is solid.
Q20 – B) 6. A hexagon has 6 sides (hexa = six). Pentagon has 5, heptagon has 7, octagon has 8.
Weak-Section Review:
Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Venus (Morning Star), Fe (iron), Ampere (current), Kidney (filters blood), 0°C (freezes), CO2 (plants absorb), Blue whale (largest mammal), Cheetah (fastest land), H2SO4 (sulphuric acid), Vitamin D (sunlight). Quantitative Ability: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, cubes, multiplication. General Knowledge: revise Paris (France), Pacific (largest ocean), 98.6°F (body temp), Mercury (liquid metal), hexagon (6 sides). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
