Answer Key + Explained Answers:

Q1 – B) Mercury. Mercury is closest to the Sun. Venus is second, Earth is third, Mars is fourth.
Q2 – B) Au. Au is the symbol for gold. Ag is silver, Gd is gadolinium, Go is not a symbol.
Q3 – C) Watt. Watt is the unit of power. Volt is voltage, Ohm is resistance, Ampere is current.
Q4 – C) Heart. Heart pumps blood. Liver detoxifies, kidney filters, lungs exchange gases.
Q5 – B) 100°C. Water boils at 100°C. 90°C is hot, 110°C is above boiling, 120°C is above boiling.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Humans exhale carbon dioxide. Oxygen is inhaled, nitrogen is inert, hydrogen is in water.
Q7 – B) Giraffe. Giraffe is the tallest land animal. Elephant is largest, horse is tall, camel is tall — but giraffe is tallest.
Q8 – B) Ostrich. Ostrich is the largest bird. Eagle is predator, penguin is flightless, emu is large — but ostrich is largest.
Q9 – B) H2O. H2O is water. CO2 is carbon dioxide, NaCl is salt, O2 is oxygen.
Q10 – D) Vitamin K. Vitamin K helps blood clotting. Vitamin A is vision, Vitamin C is immunity, Vitamin D is bones.
Q11 – C) 100. 25% of 400 = 0.25 × 400 = 100.
Q12 – C) 80. Pattern: ×2: 5 × 2 = 10, 10 × 2 = 20, 20 × 2 = 40, 40 × 2 = 80. (60, 70, 90 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 20. i – 5 = 15, so i = 15 + 5 = 20.
Q14 – C) 144. Square of 12 = 12² = 12 × 12 = 144. (124, 134, 154 are wrong.)
Q15 – B) 108. 18 × 6 = 108. (98, 118, 128 are wrong.)
Q16 – C) Tokyo. Tokyo is the capital of Japan. Beijing is China, Seoul is Korea, Bangkok is Thailand.
Q17 – B) Australia. Australia is the smallest continent. Europe is second smallest, Antarctica is third, Africa is second largest.
Q18 – B) 32°F. Water freezes at 32°F (0°C). 0°F is -18°C, 50°F is 10°C, 100°F is 38°C.
Q19 – B) Silver. Silver is the best conductor of electricity. Copper is second, iron is poor, aluminium is moderate.
Q20 – B) 5. A pentagon has 5 sides (penta = five). Square has 4, hexagon has 6, heptagon has 7.

Weak-Section Review:

Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Mercury (closest to Sun), Au (gold), Watt (power), Heart (pumps blood), 100°C (boils), CO2 (exhaled), Giraffe (tallest land), Ostrich (largest bird), H2O (water), Vitamin K (clotting). Quantitative Ability: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, squares, multiplication. General Knowledge: revise Tokyo (Japan), Australia (smallest continent), 32°F (freezing), Silver (best conductor), pentagon (5 sides). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
