GSA Practice Set 29 – General Science & Ability (20 Original MCQs Explained)
Intro: This is GSA Practice Set 29 — 20 original MCQs in the GSA pattern: General Science (Q1–Q10), Quantitative Ability (Q11–Q15), General Knowledge (Q16–Q20). Attempt all 20 in 25 minutes without looking at the answers, then check the explained answers and review your weak section. These are original practice questions, not copied from FPSC papers or competitor question banks, and this site is not affiliated with FPSC. Scoring: 18–20 = strong. 15–17 = good. 12–14 = fair, revise the sections you missed. Below 12 = study the weak-section review, then re-attempt in 2 days.

Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – B) Nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide (N2O) is laughing gas. Carbon dioxide is dry ice gas, oxygen is breathed, nitrogen is in air.
Q2 – B) Au. Au is the symbol for gold. Gd is gadolinium, Ag is silver, Go is not a symbol.
Q3 – C) Ampere. Ampere is the unit of electric current. Volt is voltage, Ohm is resistance, Watt is power.
Q4 – B) Kidney. Kidney filters blood. Liver detoxifies, heart pumps, lung breathes.
Q5 – C) 100°C. Water boils at 100°C. 90°C is below boiling, 95°C is below boiling, 110°C is above boiling.
Q6 – C) Oxygen. Humans need oxygen to breathe. Carbon dioxide is exhaled, nitrogen is in air, hydrogen is in water.
Q7 – B) Giraffe. Giraffe is the tallest land animal. Elephant is largest land, horse is tall, camel is tall — but giraffe is tallest.
Q8 – B) Blue whale. Blue whale is the largest mammal. African elephant is largest land mammal, giraffe is tallest, hippo is large.
Q9 – B) H2O. H2O is water. CO2 is carbon dioxide, O2 is oxygen, NaCl is salt.
Q10 – C) Vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced in skin by sunlight. Vitamin A is in carrots, Vitamin C is in citrus, Vitamin K is for clotting.
Q11 – C) 60. 20% of 300 = 0.20 × 300 = 60.
Q12 – C) 80. Pattern: ×2: 5 × 2 = 10, 10 × 2 = 20, 20 × 2 = 40, 40 × 2 = 80. (60, 70, 90 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 22. m + 8 = 30, so m = 30 – 8 = 22.
Q14 – C) 81. Square of 9 = 9² = 9 × 9 = 81. (71, 76, 86 are wrong.)
Q15 – C) 108. 12 × 9 = 108. (98, 103, 113 are wrong.)
Q16 – B) Paris. Paris is the capital of France. London is UK, Berlin is Germany, Rome is Italy.
Q17 – B) Australia. Australia is the smallest continent. Europe is second smallest, Antarctica is fifth, Africa is second largest.
Q18 – A) 0°C. Water freezes at 0°C. 10°C is 50°F, 32°C is 90°F, 100°C is boiling.
Q19 – B) Mercury. Mercury is liquid at room temperature. Iron is solid, copper is solid, aluminium is solid.
Q20 – C) 8. An octagon has 8 sides (octa = eight). Hexagon has 6, heptagon has 7, nonagon has 9.
Weak-Section Review:
Weak-Section Review: Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Nitrous oxide (laughing gas), Au (gold), Ampere (current), Kidney (filters blood), 100°C (boils), Oxygen (breathe), Giraffe (tallest land), Blue whale (largest mammal), H2O (water), Vitamin D (sunlight). Quantitative Ability: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, squares, multiplication. General Knowledge: revise Paris (France), Australia (smallest continent), 0°C (freezing), Mercury (liquid metal), octagon (8 sides). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
