GSA Practice Set 28 – General Science & Ability (20 Original MCQs Explained)
Intro: This is GSA Practice Set 28 — 20 original MCQs in the GSA pattern: General Science (Q1–Q10), Quantitative Ability (Q11–Q15), General Knowledge (Q16–Q20). Attempt all 20 in 25 minutes without looking at the answers, then check the explained answers and review your weak section. These are original practice questions, not copied from FPSC papers or competitor question banks, and this site is not affiliated with FPSC. Scoring: 18–20 = strong. 15–17 = good. 12–14 = fair, revise the sections you missed. Below 12 = study the weak-section review, then re-attempt in 2 days.

Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – B) Mars. Mars is the Red Planet. Venus is Morning Star, Jupiter is largest, Saturn is ringed.
Q2 – B) Ag. Ag is the symbol for silver. Si is silicon, Sv is not a symbol, S is sulphur.
Q3 – B) Ohm. Ohm is the unit of resistance. Volt is voltage, Watt is power, Ampere is current.
Q4 – C) Pancreas. Pancreas produces insulin. Liver detoxifies, kidney filters, spleen filters blood.
Q5 – B) 32°F. Water freezes at 32°F (0°C). 0°F is -18°C, 50°F is 10°C, 100°F is 38°C.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Plants use carbon dioxide to make food (photosynthesis). Oxygen is released, nitrogen is fixed, hydrogen is in water.
Q7 – B) African elephant. African elephant is the largest land animal. Blue whale is largest mammal (sea), giraffe is tallest, hippo is large.
Q8 – B) Bee hummingbird. Bee hummingbird is the smallest bird. Sparrow is small, robin is small, finch is small — but bee hummingbird is smallest.
Q9 – B) NaCl. NaCl is common salt. KCl is potassium chloride, CaCl2 is calcium chloride, MgCl2 is magnesium chloride.
Q10 – C) Vitamin C. Vitamin C is found in citrus fruits. Vitamin A is in carrots, Vitamin B is in grains, Vitamin D is in sunlight.
Q11 – C) 50. 10% of 500 = 0.10 × 500 = 50.
Q12 – C) 32. Pattern: ×2: 2 × 2 = 4, 4 × 2 = 8, 8 × 2 = 16, 16 × 2 = 32. (24, 28, 36 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 18. k + 6 = 24, so k = 24 – 6 = 18.
Q14 – C) 27. Cube of 3 = 3³ = 3 × 3 × 3 = 27. (21, 24, 30 are wrong.)
Q15 – C) 100. 25 × 4 = 100. (90, 95, 105 are wrong.)
Q16 – B) Rome. Rome is the capital of Italy. Paris is France, Madrid is Spain, Athens is Greece.
Q17 – B) Asia. Asia is the largest continent. Africa is second, Europe is second smallest, North America is third.
Q18 – C) 212°F. Water boils at 212°F (100°C). 100°F is 38°C, 180°F is 82°C, 250°F is 121°C.
Q19 – B) Lithium. Lithium is the lightest metal. Iron is heavy, aluminium is light but heavier, copper is heavy.
Q20 – C) 7. A heptagon has 7 sides (hepta = seven). Pentagon has 5, hexagon has 6, octagon has 8.
Weak-Section Review:
Weak-Section Review: Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Mars (Red Planet), Ag (silver), Ohm (resistance), Pancreas (insulin), 32°F (freezes), CO2 (plants use), African elephant (largest land), Bee hummingbird (smallest bird), NaCl (salt), Vitamin C (citrus). Quantitative Ability: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, cubes, multiplication. General Knowledge: revise Rome (Italy), Asia (largest continent), 212°F (boiling), Lithium (lightest metal), heptagon (7 sides). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
