GSA Practice Set 30 – General Science & Ability (20 Original MCQs Explained)
Intro: This is GSA Practice Set 30 — 20 original MCQs in the GSA pattern: General Science (Q1–Q10), Quantitative Ability (Q11–Q15), General Knowledge (Q16–Q20). Attempt all 20 in 25 minutes without looking at the answers, then check the explained answers and review your weak section. These are original practice questions, not copied from FPSC papers or competitor question banks, and this site is not affiliated with FPSC. Scoring: 18–20 = strong. 15–17 = good. 12–14 = fair, revise the sections you missed. Below 12 = study the weak-section review, then re-attempt in 2 days.

Answer Key + Explained Answers:
Q1 – B) Venus. Venus is the Morning Star. Mars is Red Planet, Jupiter is largest, Mercury is smallest.
Q2 – B) Fe. Fe is the symbol for iron. Ir is iridium, In is indium, I is iodine.
Q3 – C) Watt. Watt is the unit of power. Volt is voltage, Ohm is resistance, Ampere is current.
Q4 – C) Heart. Heart pumps blood. Liver detoxifies, kidney filters, lung breathes.
Q5 – A) 0°C. Water freezes at 0°C. 10°C is 50°F, 32°C is 90°F, 100°C is boiling.
Q6 – C) Carbon dioxide. Humans exhale carbon dioxide. Oxygen is inhaled, nitrogen is in air, hydrogen is in water.
Q7 – B) Cheetah. Cheetah is the fastest land animal. Lion is fast, horse is fast, deer is fast — but cheetah is fastest.
Q8 – B) Ostrich. Ostrich is the largest bird. Eagle is large, emu is large, penguin is flightless — but ostrich is largest.
Q9 – B) CO2. CO2 is carbon dioxide. CO is carbon monoxide, O2 is oxygen, C2O is not carbon dioxide.
Q10 – D) Vitamin K. Vitamin K helps blood clotting. Vitamin A is for vision, Vitamin C is for immunity, Vitamin D is for bones.
Q11 – C) 60. 30% of 200 = 0.30 × 200 = 60.
Q12 – C) 96. Pattern: ×2: 6 × 2 = 12, 12 × 2 = 24, 24 × 2 = 48, 48 × 2 = 96. (72, 84, 108 are not ×2.)
Q13 – C) 18. p + 7 = 25, so p = 25 – 7 = 18.
Q14 – C) 64. Cube of 4 = 4³ = 4 × 4 × 4 = 64. (54, 59, 69 are wrong.)
Q15 – C) 120. 15 × 8 = 120. (110, 115, 125 are wrong.)
Q16 – B) Tokyo. Tokyo is the capital of Japan. Seoul is South Korea, Beijing is China, Bangkok is Thailand.
Q17 – C) Pacific. Pacific is the largest ocean. Atlantic is second, Indian is third, Arctic is smallest.
Q18 – C) 100°C. Water boils at 100°C. 90°C is below boiling, 95°C is below boiling, 110°C is above boiling.
Q19 – B) Silver. Silver is the best conductor of electricity. Copper is second, gold is third, aluminium is fourth.
Q20 – B) 5. A pentagon has 5 sides (penta = five). Square has 4, hexagon has 6, heptagon has 7.
Weak-Section Review:
Weak-Section Review: Which section did you score lowest in? Write the 3 questions you missed, the correct answers, and one line for each explaining why. General Science: revise Venus (Morning Star), Fe (iron), Watt (power), Heart (pumps blood), 0°C (freezes), CO2 (exhaled), Cheetah (fastest land), Ostrich (largest bird), CO2 (carbon dioxide), Vitamin K (clotting). Quantitative Ability: practise percentages, ×2 series, algebra, cubes, multiplication. General Knowledge: revise Tokyo (Japan), Pacific (largest ocean), 100°C (boiling), Silver (best conductor), pentagon (5 sides). Re-attempt this set in 2 days.
